Installing the dependencies

You need to install 2 separate apps to implement the complete automation mechanism. Each app can be conveniently installed through the Universal Plugin Manager (UPM). The whole procedure takes only a few minutes.

Steps:

  1. Install the Better PDF Exporter for Jira Cloud app. This app provides the core file export functionality.

  2. Install the Better PDF Automation for Jira Cloud app. This app "sits between" the file exporter app and the automation framework, and makes file exports available for automation rules..

Installing the dependencies for both Excel and PDF automations

If you are to implement both Excel and PDF automation mechanisms, it requires 4 separate apps in total:

  1. Better Excel Exporter for Jira Cloud
  2. Better Excel Automation for Jira Cloud
  3. Better PDF Exporter for Jira Cloud
  4. Better PDF Automation for Jira Cloud

Installing the app

You can easily install the Better PDF Automation for Jira Cloud app using the Universal Plugin Manager (UPM) that is built into Jira Cloud.

Steps:

  1. Login to Jira as administrator, go to Jira settings → Apps → Find new apps and search for the term "better pdf automation".
  2. Click the first app found → Get app → Get it now.
  3. Wait until the "Better PDF Automation for Jira installed successfully" message appears in the bottom left.
  4. Click Manage apps in the left bar.
  5. Check whether "Better PDF Automation for Jira Cloud" is visible in the User-installed apps list.
