What is Table Grid Next Generation?
(supported since Better PDF Exporter 7.3.0)
Table Grid Next Generation is a Jira app that extends Jira with list- and spreadsheet-like (table-like) custom fields. (Table Grid Next Generation is the modern re-implementation of the legacy app called Table Grid Editor. Both the old and the new apps are integrated with Better PDF Exporter.)

Table Grid Next Generation integration vs. the Table Grid Next Generation built-in PDF exports
You may want to ask: if Table Grid Next Generation has a built-in PDF export feature, why would you use another app for the same?
While the Table Grid Next Generation built-in PDF exports may be sufficient for basic use cases, the Better PDF Exporter integration is more powerful in, at least, these:
-
It supports PDF automation.
You can export, email and attach PDF files using Automation for Jira (visual automation rules), ScriptRunner (Groovy scripts), or the REST API (use your favorite language!). -
It is extremely customizable.
Instead of accepting the pre-defined export types in Table Grid Next Generation, you can define your own types via PDF templates. -
It supports all the powerful PDF features.
You can use custom calculations in Groovy (sorting, complex math, data integration, etc.), embedded attachments, PDF bookmarks, charts, graphics (in Groovy, SVG, QR codes and barcodes, etc.), among others. -
It is integrated with all the popular Jira apps.
You can freely combine Table Grid Next Generation data and other apps' data in the same PDF file. -
It comes with powerful templates optimized for Table Grid Next Generation.
You can use those "as is", or customize them to your needs. - It is well-documented with the customization guide, the Expression Reference Manual, the recipes, and such.
If at least one of these is important for you, give the app a try.

Table Grid Next Generation PDF export samples
Jira issue with table grid field
This PDF sample is a typical quote document with the line items stored in a table grid. The table grid has columns of various data types.
Issue list with table grid fields
When exporting a Table Grid Next Generation issue table, the table grid fields are fit into single cells, essentially becoming tables-in-a-table. Even in this case, the PDF export is perfectly readable and summarizes large amount of data in an intuitive layout.
Configuration
There is nothing to do. Better PDF Exporter will automatically recognize the Table Grid Next Generation managed fields and export them accordingly.
Note on compatibility: pre-1.4.1 versions of the Table Grid Next Generation app return the table data with some defects (missing rows, different column order, etc.), which also appear in the exported PDF. Therefore, upgrading to 1.4.1 or newer is strongly recommended.
